AI-Powered Classrooms: Bridging the Gap between Humans and Machines

The purpose is to consider the impact of artificial intelligence. The session will focus on Artificial Intelligence, the types of generative AI, how to get started, and resources to explore. It will provide a brief overview of what generative AI is, resources to introduce to students, some key facts about the use of AI in our lives, and activities and courses to explore. The audience will be encouraged to explore some of the sites mentioned and try some of the activities using generative AI. A survey will also be used before the session to gather ideas from attendees and prepare additional materials or share more ideas with them. Overview and intro 5-10 minutes Examples and some key facts 5-10 minutes Demo of several apps and resources audiences can explore for 15-20 minutes. Time for attendees to create using these tools. Live participation in some of the AI activities, for example, Was this created by AI? and other similar activities as well as the use of a game or poll. 30-40 minutes We will then dive into some tools that educators can use that are beneficial for students and then some that help with productivity and efficiency. The audience will be encouraged to explore some of the sites mentioned and try some activities. The use of some AI tools during the session to show impact, invite conversation from attendees who have used some of the tools, and share ideas about the impact of AI in education and the world of work.
