Outline
Introduction (10 minutes)--Content: Welcome and brief introduction of the presenter. -Define active learning and its significance in middle school education. -Quick icebreaker: "Share one word that describes your teaching style." Theoretical Foundations of Active Learning (10 minutes): -Overview of key research supporting active learning. Benefits for middle school students (e.g., engagement, retention). Interactive Strategies for Active Learning (30 minutes): Introduction to various strategies: Jigsaw Activities Problem-Based Learning Game-Based Learning Engagement Activities: Technology Integration (15 minutes) -Present digital tools that support active learning (e.g., Kahoot, Padlet, Google Classroom) -Live demonstration of tools or activities Classroom Management for Active Learning (10 minutes) -Tips and techniques for maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere during active learning. Engagement Tactics: Peer-to-Peer Interaction: Throughout the session, encourage participants to discuss their thoughts and experiences in pairs or small groups. Device-Based Activities: Use polls and quizzes to make use of participants' devices for real-time feedback and engagement. Games and Contests: Incorporate friendly competitions to make learning fun and interactive.
