Outline
Introduction (5 minutes) Content: Brief introduction to the TEACH philosophy (Trust, Equity, Advocacy, Collaboration, Humor/Humility). Engagement: Icebreaker activity asking participants to share a word that describes their current coaching approach. Process: Participants engage in a quick digital poll. Building Trust (8 minutes) Content: Strategies to build and maintain trust in coaching relationships. Engagement: Group discussion on trust-building challenges. Process: Peer-to-peer interaction using real-life examples. Small group sharing. Creating Equity (8 minutes) Content: Strategies for creating equitable coaching environments and removing barriers. Engagement: Case study discussion on promoting equity. Process: Small group analysis of case studies and brainstorming solutions. Advocating for Others (8 minutes) Content: Effective advocacy strategies for colleagues and students. Engagement: Scenario-based role-play on advocacy situations. Process: Pairs role-play different advocacy scenarios. Fostering Collaboration (8 minutes) Content: Practical tips for enhancing collaboration, focusing on PLCs. Engagement: Collaboration challenge demonstrating the value of diverse perspectives. Process: Small group collaboration activity solving a problem with different viewpoints. Humor and Humility in Coaching (8 minutes) Content: Using humor and humility to create positive coaching environments. Engagement: Share moments where humor or humility helped in coaching or teaching. Process: Peer-to-peer interaction, sharing anecdotes and lessons learned. TEACH in Action – Anecdotes from the Field (8 minutes) Content: Real-life examples that highlight each part of the TEACH model. Engagement: Reflection on how these examples relate to participants’ experiences. Process: Q&A session, sharing participant anecdotes. Wrap-up and Action Plan (5 minutes) Content: Summary and creation of an action plan for implementing the TEACH model. Engagement: Participants write down one actionable step for each letter of TEACH. Process: Individual reflection followed by a quick group share-out. Total Time: 60 minutes
