Outline
Overview and Introduction (10 minutes) - Content & Engagement: Brief discussion of the benefits of robotics in education and integrating coding into core curriculum to boost engagement and develop future-ready skills. - Activities: Facilitator shares examples across subjects and grade levels; audience Q&A to surface experiences and needs. - Process: Whole-group discussion, questions encouraged throughout. Station Exploration (20 minutes) - Content & Engagement: Attendees rotate through stations showcasing robotics challenges for various grades and subjects. Each station highlights different robots (Sphero, Root, Dash & Dot, Ozobot, Beebot). - Activities: Hands-on exploration, trying out challenges, discussing strategies with peers. - Process: Peer-to-peer interaction, attendees test activities, share ideas, and ask questions. Facilitator circulates for guidance and differentiation based on attendees’ experience levels. Lesson Planning Guidance and Resource Sharing (10 minutes) - Content & Engagement: Overview of lesson planning strategies, showing online lesson databases and adaptable resources. - Activities: Attendees explore the shared resources - Process: Whole group discussion Action Plan Creation (15 minutes) - Content & Engagement: Attendees draft a simple lesson outline or action plan integrating robotics into their curriculum. - Activities: Individual reflection and planning; use provided templates or blank outlines. - Process: Facilitator encourages attendees to consider grade level, subject area, and available technology. Sharing and Wrap-Up (5 minutes) - Content & Engagement: Participants share outlines, ideas, or insights on the curated resource baord. Facilitator highlights key takeaways. - Activities: Voluntary sharing of lesson plans; questions answered. - Process: Peer feedback, discussion, and connections to provided resources (Wakelet or Padlet).
